Touchmedia was founded by Chinese-American entrepreneur Micky Fung in 2003, when he recognized the opportunity to reach an upscale audience in more involving, entertaining and effective ways, using interactive touch screens.
Though living at the time in the US, Micky came to China, a market in which he had been doing business for many years, because he believed that its rapid growth, size and innovative spirit offered the best opportunity for the new company. China’s explosive growth in outdoor media is amongst the fastest in the world. It is driven by the difficulty of reaching affluent Chinese consumers. This is a challenging market to reach anywhere, but particularly in China, because of the relatively low consumption of conventional media and the 'work hard, play hard' lifestyle which has people spending more time away from their living rooms.
